He’s Alive and Our God Reigns

I am writing this the day before Easter at about 11 pm.

My day today did not go as planned.

I had hoped to have a nicely recorded and edited version of this song, but that did not happen.

I was already struggling with my voice after a long day of not feeling well.

Then, right as I started making videos to get a good version of this song, my oldest son came down sick.

Mother duties trump blog obligations.

So, you’re getting the raw, uncut, creeky-voice first version of this song.

I ended up cutting the ending of the song short because someone yelled “He’s throwing up, Mom!” from the other room.

Oi!

But, I have committed to posting something every day unless I am totally unable (It is a commitment I made to myself), so I am posting what I have.

I hope this will be a blessing to someone or a the very least entertaining. I am learning to let my vanity [that everything is not perfect] go.

This is one of my favorite songs about the Resurrection. It is based on Isaiah 53.

Our God Reigns

He had no stately form he had no majesty

That we should be drawn to Him

He was despised and we took no account of  Him

And now He reigns on the most high

Now he reigns

Now he reigns

Now he reigns on the most high

It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded him

It was our sin that brought him down

When we like sheep had gone astray our Shepherd came
And on His shoulders bore our shame.

On His shoulders

On His shoulders

On His shoulders

He bore our shame

Meek as a lamb that’s led out to the slaughterhouse,
Dumb as a sheep before its shearer,
His blood ran down upon the ground like pouring rain
That we might be born again.

That we might be

That we might be

That we might be born again.

Out from the tomb He arose with grace and majesty;
He is alive, He is alive.
God loves us so, see here His hands, His feet, His side
Yes we know, He is alive.

He’s alive

He’s alive

He’s alive

He is alive

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him
brings good news, good news;
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness:
Our God reigns, our God reigns!

Our God reigns

Our God reigns

Our God reigns

Our God reigns

He’s alive

He’s alive

He’s alive

And our God reigns!

Blessings on you day as you celebrate our Savior’s resurrection!
